ERIC CECCARINI: THE PAINTERS PROJECT:
Eric Ceccarini’s “The Painter’s Project” is an ongoing collection of collaborations with painters and models that give birth to several distinctive and spectacular photographs.
This unorthodox partnership open ways to wonderful and often surprising creations. Magic succeeds when the ephemeral and volatile nature of paint on the human skin is forever captured through the lens and immortalized onto the image.
A meeting between a painter, a model and the photographer, the Painters Project is an ongoing art series. It is very extensive, both in time and scope; as over 100 Artistic meetings have taken place, and only some will give birth to a new amazing art piece.
Eric proposes to some of the very best models he has enjoyed working with during his career to join the collaboration. She becomes a performing artist, and she offers her skin and her body as a canvas, and interacts with the Photographer and the painter to reveal her persona and Style.
For the artist the project offers them a step in the dark, an escape into unknown territory. They must settle into a new environment with unfamiliar light, unusual shadows and highlights and an interacting canvas who is not only three dimensional but alive, breathing and sentient. Movements and poses influence their strokes, they must discover, adapt and ultimately tame this canvas with their brush. Together, the body and the art become one to achieve the sublime.
Blending the often distinct viewpoints of different disciplines, working together to mix various instruments, tools and angles is an uncommon, yet extremely rewarding and exciting approach, and complements to the usual solitude of the artist, a commonly echoed mantra in the art sphere. For the Artsist the new experience and challenge often crosses into their own practice to influence their future work and provides new inspiration.
Eric Ceccarini is a Belgian artist born in 1965 is widely represented and collected iand has shown in numerous galeries, art fairs and Museums throughout Europe. Ga;erie l’Atelier and Fremin gallery are proud to present his first US Solo Show.
Ceccarini gained a degree in photography from infac, Brussels in 1987. Since then, he has been a fashion photographer working with many top houses, including Chopard, Elle, Marie- Claire, L’Oréal, Levi’s, Coca Cola, Virgin, Saab, Delvaux, Lowe Lintas, and Ogilvy.
Ceccarini sets himself apart from others by shunning technical artifice and working in natural light outside the studio. This results in soft, velvety, almost painterly images that amaze.
