Join us this Sunday at the gallery for a unique children’s art workshop inspired by Chen Yi Ching: In Full Bloom, the tradition of Japanese Nihonga painting, and the beauty of nature.

In this hands-on session, children will learn to observe and draw natural forms: beginning with a single branch and expanding their focus to the full structure of a tree. They'll explore how line, shape, and detail bring nature to life on paper using pencil and marker.

Led by three artists, Chen Yi Ching, Marie-Chloé Duval, and Stéphane-Françoise Clément, the workshop begins with a live demonstration of drawing techniques inspired by traditional Japanese approaches to brushwork and composition. Then, children will be guided step-by-step as they create their own nature-inspired drawings using Brush pens, pencils, and other Dry media.

This workshop is ideal for children ages 6–12 and emphasizes close observation, creative interpretation, and personal expression. Younger Children are welcome please contact us ahead of time.  Whether realistic or imaginative, each drawing will reflect the child’s unique perspective.

All materials are provided—just bring curiosity and a love of nature!

Guided Interaction by Marie Chloe Duval: Marie Chloe Duval has led artistic workshops for children in the past and is excited for this upcoming event at our gallery! more about Marie Chloe duval
