Sofía Balut Páez is a contemporary painter whose work bridges Cubist traditions with a distinctly personal and contemporary vision. As the granddaughter of renowned Uruguayan artist Carlos Páez Vilaró, she inherited a profound connection to artistic expression from an early age, developing a visual language rooted in experimentation, emotion, and cultural dialogue.

Since 2015, Balut Páez has lived and worked across Uruguay, Spain, and Italy, experiences that have enriched her artistic perspective and deepened her engagement with themes of identity, human connection, and personal transformation. Working primarily in oil on canvas and linen, she creates paintings that merge geometric fragmentation with expressive color, reinterpreting both historical and contemporary female figures through a Cubist lens.

Her work has been exhibited internationally, including presentations at the Museum of European Modern Art (MEAM) in Barcelona, exhibitions associated with the Louvre in Paris, and participation in major international art fairs such as the Paris Art Fair. In 2025, her large-scale painting Almas Imparables (Unstoppable Souls) was presented at the First Biennial of Women Artists of the World in Chelsea, London.
