ABOUT

In his layered acrylic sculptures and photographic compositions, J. Margulis explores how perception shifts through light, space, and point of view. Drawing on his Venezuelan background, his experience in digital printing, and the legacies of geometric abstraction and kinetic art, Margulis creates vibrant three-dimensional works from cut plastic sheets that function as “light traps.” As light passes through their colors, textures, and patterns, the pieces reveal changing forms that challenge fixed ideas of truth and perspective. Rooted in courage, empathy, and kindness, his practice invites viewers to consider how beliefs, biases, and understanding are transformed through even the smallest change in viewpoint.
