Photograms | Literary
November 15, 2021 – January 30, 2022
ABOUT
The most recent body of work by American photographer Wendy Paton combines bold abstraction with a centuries-old photographic medium: the photogram, or camera-less photography.
In her series Photograms | Literary, Paton transforms a literal and literary object—the book—into a visual interpretation of abstraction. Influenced by the iconic works of Man Ray and László Moholy-Nagy, she makes a vivid statement on both the artistic photographic process and her chosen subject: the written word. The series reflects on how literature is presented in today’s predominantly digital culture, bridging historical techniques with contemporary commentary.
