ABOUT

It has been over a year since Nicolas Auvray last visited Paris, and the longing for his hometown and for travel inspired a new project. For Paris Wanderlust, he invited Gallery Artists to share their own visions of the city, creating a stereoscopic view of the capital through the eyes of five photographers. Each artist expresses their love for Paris in a distinct way, highlighting the breadth and versatility of the photographic medium.

Through her pinhole calotypes, Tricia Rosenkilde creates a distorted universe from Parisian landmarks and hidden corners, where the Arc de Triomphe seems to animate and approach the viewer, opening familiar perspectives into new dimensions. Jehsong Baak presents an intimate, personal vision of the city he has adopted, bringing its inhabitants into focus and revealing fleeting moments of human connection. Michel Giniès and Jean Luc Olezak offer humanist perspectives spanning from the 1960s to today, inviting viewers to rediscover Paris through their eyes. Nicolas Auvray, with “Night Attractions,” captures the city’s illuminated streets and architectural marvels, creating cinematic scenes that immerse viewers in the experience of wandering through Paris by night.

One rare commonality unites all these works: the analog mediums used by each artist. Every piece is an original print, from silver gelatin to Rosenkilde’s platinum and cyanotype handprints, preserving the tangible and timeless qualities of the photographic craft.

Paris Wanderlust is an invitation to join the artists on a visual escapade, discovering the city they love through their unique interpretations, and experiencing Paris anew.
