ABOUT
Nicolas Auvray Gallery is delighted to announce mé·lange, a bold and kaleidoscopic group exhibition curated by Dru Arstark. Arstark brings together an eclectic mix of contemporary artists—some represented by the gallery, others specially invited—whose practices span a broad spectrum of media, techniques, and conceptual frameworks. Rather than seeking harmony, mé·lange revels in the dissonance, tension, and unexpected connections that arise when divergent artistic voices are placed in direct conversation.
True to its name, mé·lange is a visual and conceptual collage. The works on view range from minimalist steel sculpture and Neo-Geo abstraction to experimental still life, evocative landscape, and digitally manipulated photography printed on industrial materials. In this curated clash of aesthetics, viewers are invited to experience the friction and humor that emerge when seemingly incompatible styles meet. Instead of smoothing over differences, the exhibition emphasizes them, inviting audiences to consider the value of multiplicity in contemporary art.
The exhibition is conceived by Dru Arstark, a highly respected figure in the contemporary art world with decades of experience organizing exhibitions that highlight both established and emerging talent.
Formerly the Director of Jon Kempner Fine Arts, Arstark has built a reputation for her sharp curatorial vision and her ability to shape exhibitions that are both intellectually rigorous and visually compelling. Her current collaboration with Nicolas Auvray Gallery continues that legacy, expanding the gallery's program with ambitious, thought-provoking projects like mé·lange.
