Nicolas Auvray Gallery pleased to partner with La Sala Art Gallery of Mérida, Mexico to showcase Alfredo Romero at the Atlanta Art Fair.

Romero’s practice centers on the retrieval of architectural remnants from urban sites throughout the Mexico. Employing the strappo technique, historically used in archaeological and mural conservation, he extracts portions of walls and painted surfaces from homes, commercial spaces, and public buildings facing alteration or disappearance. These fragments carry layers of pigment, wear, signage, and human touch, holding onto the accumulated traces of everyday life embedded within the city.

Viewed collectively, they read as fractured cartographies of a landscape in flux, shaped by expansion, displacement, and fading communal memory, prompting viewers to encounter place through its material remains.
